I'm sick of talking about S---- f***ing P---- and inadvertently upping her profile by adding yet more Google hits for her. From this day on, I shall not use her name. On this blog, she will henceforth be 'She Who Remains Nameless'.
'She Who Remains Nameless' is making a lot of money and gaining a lot of publicity with her crappy book. She's everywhere on the media. Even Rachel Maddow devotes an hour or so to criticizing 'Going
Enough already. The book is dripping with lies, expounds dumb old policy ideas - like trickledown economics and deregulation that should have been retired with Bush - and generally sucks ass. So why the hysteria? I'm sure people brought out books about, say, kittens or door knobs during this same holiday selling season. Their books were probably well researched, well written and factually correct. Hell, the kittens and/or door knob books may well sell more copies. But are these authors being given hours of free publicity by the news media and cited as possible presidential candidates?
There's talk of 'She Who Remains Nameless' running in 2012 on the back of all the media attention she's gained. Hicks throughout the flyover states camp out overnight to buy the book and are fawning over her like the second coming of The Gipper. Why??? Again, 'Going Mental' is full of lies, reads like a Days of Our Lives shooting script and contains absolutely nothing of value. So why the attention? Because she's the first media-created political personality. She is the Paris Hilton of right wing lunacy... a 'fame unit' that continues to exist solely because the media keep talking about her.
Please God make our news media steer back to sober analysis and plain news reporting and stop working as a PR machine for wannabe demagogues. Please let them grow out of their simplistic obsession with confrontation and extremism and start reporting on stuff sane folks care about again. And that includes Rachel Maddow. Because if the horrible scenario does come to pass, if 'She Who Remains Nameless' does get the ticket in 2012, we'll only have the media to blame. And MSNBC will be just as culpable because bad-mouthing 'She Who Remains Nameless' translates very effectively into good publicity when passed through the idiot filter.
Let's do news people!
