Still confused why no-one else seems to be picking up on the most intriguing part of the just-passed healthcare deal. Reminder:
If Anh Cao hadn't defied his party and voted yes, if Bill Owens and John Garamendi had not won in New York and California on Tuesday, the 220-215 win would have been a 218-217 loss.
It's very satisfying to see the Republican bluster about 'winning big' on Tuesday shot down in flames by reality, but it's also extremely worrying to see how this vote was, literally, as close as it could possibly have been for the Democrats.
It does not auger well for Reid, Pelosi and Obama's control over their own party when a massive working majority in the house translates to a margin finer than than a frog hair split eight ways and sanded down. Especially for a bill that should be as much a no-brainer for a Dem as anything about abortion or f***ing the middle class would be for a Republican.
