GOP + NRA: Accessories to Murder

Iowa state rep Jeff Kaufmann got caught in a 'hot mic' incident recently during a discussion of House Study bill 219, the so-called "Alaska carry" legislation.

Given that he's a Republican, you might wonder whether 'hot mic' might be drug lingo, maybe the name of his preferred male hooker? No. Kaufmann got caught running his mouth in front of a microphone he didn't know was on:

[He was] caught joking that a proposal which would allow state residents to carry weapons in public without permission from a sheriff and without any training or a background check might better be called the "give-a-handgun-to-a-schizophrenic-bill."

Funny yes. But I stopped laughing quick when two thoughts occurred: 1) Will our gutless pols ever sac up and quit letting the NRA write bills for them? 2) Can we not sue these pols as accessories to murder whenever people get shot by lunatics wielding legal handguns? As self-incriminating evidence goes, you couldn't do better than present Kaufmann's on-mic brain fart - especially as, being a lock-step Republican,  you can bet the farm he will vote for the "give-a-handgun-to-a-schizophrenic-bill."
