Hoffman Given Up Giving In

"Rest assured, they will not succeed, and I am therefore revoking my statement of concession... Owens led by 300 votes on the final election night tally, but after recanvassing, I'm now leading by 424 votes."

Doug Hoffman, failed NY-23 Conservative carpetbagger, is not giving up. At least he's given up giving in and is... err... starting again. He's seeking to rescind his concession after absentee ballot counts threaten to sway the result in his direction.

Interesting to wonder if Al Gore had done the same thing in 2000, we would never have had a Bush government. But the conservative 'Brooks Brothers Rioters' and the tame Supreme Court made damn sure Gore and Joe 'Sore Loserman' conceded and stayed conceded even though final vote counts gave the popular vote to Gore. Hypocrisy? You betcha.

Yup, Sanity Prevailed

So the wingnut meatwads are all happy they gained a couple of governors. MC Steele said (prior to the New jersey result), "The Republican party's overwhelming victory in Virginia is a blow to President Obama and the Democrat party".

Is it f***, numbnuts.

But what about the eerie Repub silence on the real judgment that was made last night? That one where they lost a seat that's been solidly Republican since 1907? Yup. The rational, everyday residents of NY-23 watched the Palin/Limbaugh/Beck limp biscuit game and declined to eat what was passed to them.

I'm guessing Doug Hoffman's loss was a big judgment on the wingnuts and the 9-12 knuckle draggers, a big judgment on the moribund GOP, and a big judgment on the clueless tools in charge who seem to think relaying messages for Palin/Limbaugh/Beck constitutes leadership.

Palin/Limbaugh/Beck: pack up your carpetbags and skedaddle to your next failure. And don't forget to take monkey boy Hoffman with you.

Has Sanity Prevailed?

Not trying to be all live bloggy or anything, but the NY-23 race is looking darned promising right now. Unless it all goes badly wrong, ol' dirty aquarium teeth guy is out:

"With 77 percent of precincts reporting, the Democrat, Bill Owens, had 49 percent of the vote, while the Conservative Party candidate, Douglas L. Hoffman, had 45 percent, a margin of fewer than 4,000 votes."

Hoffman Catches Lou Dobbs Paranoia

Earlier today, the Hoffman campaign and conservative bloggers threw a fit after somebody "slashed the tire of a Hoffman poll-watcher's truck."

Hoffman said, through clenched dirty aquarium teeth no doubt, "We just had a report that one of our pollsters in Clinton County just had their tires slashed... So I think the Democrats are doing everything they possibly can to steal this election away from the 23rd District."

But according the local police chief: "This was not a tire slashing - this was some guy who drove over a bottle and cut his tire."

Can I ask how much longer before America gets its 'I can't believe we used to take these people seriously' moment?

NY-23 Race Close. But What's With The Teeth?

"The new Siena poll of the NY-23 race gives Conservative Doug Hoffman a lead over Democrat Bill Owens -- but only a narrow one.

The numbers: Hoffman 41%, Owens 36%, and Republican Dede Scozzafava -- who dropped out of the race and endorsed the Democrat Owens, but is still on the ballot -- at 6%, with a whopping 18% undecided."

Maybe I'm shallow, but my overriding thought was "what the hell's up with Doug Hoffman's teeth?" At first I assumed the Austin Powers/dirty aquarium smile was a Photoshop trick by Dems - like when Republicans make Hillary Clinton look extra mental by tweaking her picture - but no. This pic comes straight from Hoffman's own campaign site.

Say what you like about the Public Option, Mr Conservative, but you could sure use some affordable dental.
