Cut The Crap

The LA Times has got it hands on one of Jared Loughner's videos in which he wanders round Pima college campus rambling about mind control and constitutional purism.

Based on what the guy himself says on the video, could we cut the crap and agree once and for all that he is both an unhinged loon and an almost textbook libertarian? The two things are certainly not mutually exclusive and the way we're all trying sooo desperately not to ascribe political motives to his shooting spree is some very undignified and intellectually dishonest bullsh*t. It reminds me of the way tobacco companies used to try and avoid the c-word... "yeh, you might smoke two packs a day, but the lung cancer is entirely coincidental. Who knows where it came from?"
