Republican dipwad Rex Duncan: equating Shariah Law with liberalism because that makes sense... right?
Arguing with wingnuts is ultimately futile. What's the point? Will an idiot ever 'fess to their idiocy and admit they're wrong? From my long experience of battling wits with unarmed conservatives, it would seem not.
But what else can you do in the face of a rising tide of RW moronism but fight back with facts and smarts? Maybe there are some borderline idiots out there who could be swayed away from the dark side by the weight of a well-reasoned argument... maybe there is a point to all this. Gotta keep on truckin'!
So with existential crisis behind me, let's flip the wingnut rock and see what scuttles out...
How about Oklahoma State Senator Rex Duncan? Somehow, this idiot got elected despite being an unlikely bookie's favorite in a hypothetical chess match with a sea sponge. This staggeringly uninformed cretin (even by Oklahoman standards) is currently pushing for a ballot measure that would prohibit courts from "considering international or sharia law when deciding cases". He says the measure is a "preemptive strike" against "liberal judges" who want to "undermine those founding principles" of America.
Reasoned response to an insane conservative argument #1:
Seems unlikely that an American court would ever trump the Constitution with 8th century Islamic law. I'm sure Shariah law's more exotic execution methods might appeal in my state, but that's about as far as it goes.
Reasoned response to an insane conservative argument #2:
What's with the ridiculous conflation of ultra-conservative Islam with liberalism??? I'd love to see Rex Duncan fly out to Afghanistan and start calling the Taliban liberals. Wonder how long he'd last unstoned and/or not hanging from a crane in a soccer stadium?
Last week, the Taliban hung a 7-year-old boy in accordance with their psychotic interpretation of Shariah law. I guess, to Duncan, this would be liberalism run amuck.
