Kill The Bill Before It Kills You

White House adviser David Plouffe says:

"Parents won't have to worry their children will be denied coverage just because they have a preexisting condition."

Notice the subtle inclusion of the word 'children' just so you don't go thinking the preexisting conditions rule will apply to everyone?

Even though the preexisting conditions rule made it through both houses and is the only measure in the bill even the GOP can't argue against, it now seems dead too. This begs the question: Who the f*ck is this White House trying to please???

Many liberally-inclined folks are still hopped up on Obama charisma and are advising 'give him a chance' and 'wait and see'. But Obama has had a chance. We've waited and we've seen him go from advocating singlepayer to backing a corporate-friendly bill that's worse than the status quo in the space of just two years. So what are we supposed to be still waiting for? All that can happen is things will get even worse if we don't quit giving him slack.

So please, holdouts, quit with the 'wait and see'. Get angry instead and demand they tear up the healthcare bill and start again. It's the only way we stand a chance of ever getting reform. Convince the WH that the midterms will be a disaster and they can't take your support for granted. Maybe then Obama's sense of self-preservation will force him to pull his thumb out of his butt and do something for the people.
