There are few tears being shed over Parker Griffith Of Alabama defecting to the GOP. Truth was he was already there. As 'Down With Tyranny' point out:

There are 7 House Republicans with either an identical ProgressivePunch score on crucial votes or a better one! He opposed equal pay for women, opposed the stimulus bill, opposed clean energy legislation, opposed healthcare reform, voted against the budget and against regulating the banksters. Basically, from the day he slipped into the House he was a charter member of the Boehner Boys.

So good riddance to bad rubbish seems an appropriate response. Far from endangering the Democrat majority, Griffith's 'desperate' decision to change sides promises to make things a whole lot easier to get a progressive in place in Alabama. Says Matt Osborne at Huffington:

What seems to be shaping up in Alabama is another NY-23. The national party may have welcomed Griffith as its new incumbent, but the local party is balking. Nationally, teabaggers are only too eager to fight internecine battles for control of the party. What it adds up to is a chance for someone to become the Bill Owens of northern Alabama.
