Testing Times

Obama faces a tricky test in the light of a UN Human Rights Council report on Israel's attack on Gaza eight months ago. The report accuses both Israel and Hamas of war crimes with its lead investigator warning of a lack of accountability for war crimes that has reached "crisis point" in the Middle East.

If Bush was in power, there would be no problem: Israel is our infallible ally and can do no wrong, the UN Human Rights Council are a bunch of commie fags with whom we no truck. But with a grown-up in the White House, how does the US demonstrate its new sincerity to the world community and address Israel's transgressions without stirring up the powerful Zionist/Evangelical/Neocon alliance at home? Good luck with that.
