Just a Thought...

While falling under the somnambulant thrall of C-Span, watching the Senate debate over Rockefeller's public option, I just awoke to grapple with the following conundrum: If Medicare is going broke (as the Republican refuseniks keep reminding us), why would they not want to open up government-financed healthcare to working people who could actually put money back in? And why are they so keen to block the 'illegals' who are obliged to pay in without claiming anything back and are, by many accounts, keeping the whole system afloat?

Could it be that Republicans have the "We Support Medicare" line for the coffin dodgers who elect them when in reality, they want to starve the beast? Surely not...
