A lot of Conservatives, libertarians and 'baggers are keen to recast the Civil War as a simple states-rights debate that got out of hand when the northern fascists marched down south and stomped all over freedom. To these revisionist pantloads, the confederacy represented a purer form of liberty, truer to the original Constitution, than Lincoln's United States. Wha..? An economic system based on owning human beings is the right-wing's idea of liberty perfected??? Oh my... Soylent Green is made from people!
