L.A. employment agency Global Horizons Manpower Inc. gets mixed reviews on Insider Pages after getting busted for slavery.
According to the FBI:
There are more people living in forced labor today than when President Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation.
This accompanies a story about a human trafficking racket that duped Thai workers into unpaid labor on US farms. One difference between this and old-timey slavery? They used to sell slaves. Instead, today's slaves pay as much as $17,000 each to "employment agencies" like Global Horizons Manpower Inc.
Not trying to be a smart ass or a partisan bore... but can I legitimately blame the free market for this one without conservatives getting all pissy and citing something Clinton or Obama are supposed to have done? Just this once? We are talking slavery here. In 2010.
