Just been watching Michael Joseph Gross on Morning Joe talking about his Vanity Fair profile on Sarah Palin. Enlightening stuff.

Gross had explored the dark side of Mooselini yesterday detailing things like her fights with Todd, her Mafiosa-like appetite for revenge, and how she blew through thousands of dollars of Grandpa McCain's campaign money buying fancy underpants. Even as a Palin hater, I thought the article was kinda lame as it just seemed to dig up dirt to make her look more petty and conniving. As the wingnut commenters said, just another "hit piece", a "terrible, biased article". Or just plain redundant depending on your point of view.

But...

It should make those Palinistas who leaped to defend her pause when Gross says he had intended to write a sympathetic article but changed his mind the more he learned about her. Gross told Morning Joe that he'd identified with Palin as a fellow "small-town Christian" and used to think she'd got a bum rap from the smartypants media. But that was then... now he says "the worst stuff isn't even in there".

So discount the "Palin behaving badly" liberal catnip. The real takeaway from Gross' article should be that this wholesome, small-town hero is a complete f*cking bitch who's literally impossible to like once you know her. Even for people like Gross who profess to having been "sympathetic."
