Note to Douglas Hughes: When choosing a photo for your anti-pedophile campaign Web site, try to find one where you look slightly less chesterish yourself.
I'd love to have at least one day go by where I didn't feel the need to write "Republican" and "f*cking insane" in the same sentence. But just try it. It's damn-near impossible.
Today's Republican nutjob is Douglas Hughes, California Republican gubernatorial wannabe. According to Hughes' campaign Web site, he plans to establish "Pedophile Island" (world's worst family vacation destination?) and banish California's pedophiles there:
As governor I will introduce legislation to impose mandatory expulsion of convicted pedophiles from the State of California as a condition of release from prison. Pedophiles in the State of California will have three (3) choices:
1. Leave our State of California permanently;
2. Live on Santa Rosa Island (a self supporting community for pedophiles and sexual offenders);
3. Remain in prison for life;
Banishing pervs to their own island is a seductive idea...
At least until you sober up, get past the knee jerk and advance one thought ahead. No. It's f*cking ridiculous and nothing short of embarrassing, even for a Repub, that Hughes is actually running on this.
