According to Doug Schoen at Fox News passing parts of the healthcare bill via reconciliation "represents just the sort of hyper-partisan policymaking Americans don't want".
The ever-reliable John McCain says "the American people don't like these unsavory deals", Brietbart calls reconciliation "cheating the system" and something "Americans don't want".
Amid all the self-serving wingnut BS, it's sometimes difficult to remember reality: reconciliation is a straight vote with the majority will holding sway on a bill that's already passed in substance. Yup, that's real "unsavory". And, what's more, those much-misquoted American people are all for it. Say the latest nonpartisan Research 2000 polls:
"In Nevada, 55% wouldn’t object; in Illinois, 67% wouldn’t object; in Washington state, 65% wouldn’t object; in Missouri, 58% wouldn’t object; in Virginia, 60% wouldn’t object; in Iowa, 66% wouldn’t object; and in North Dakota, 53% wouldn’t object."
