Charles Krauthammer's column in today's Washington Post gloats over the decline in Obama's poll ratings and credits his 'wild liberalism' for him taking a beating.
Krauthammer uses roughly 700 words to make his hackish, intellectually dishonest case. But not one of them is the word 'unemployment'.
Presidential approval is proven to go up and down in line with the unemployment rate. It's a fact. Both Reagan and Clinton's approval ratings almost exactly matched the unemployment curves. But somehow this blindingly obvious fact eludes Krauthammer who still doesn't get the idea that the American people could care less about conservatism and liberalism anyway. They just want to pay bills and get madder with the guy in charge the harder that is to do.
Krauthammer might also wonder that Obama appeared a hell of a lot more liberal while campaigning and a lot more popular. So wouldn't a subsequent slide in popularity indicate that he's not being liberal enough?
