Ted Klaudt® Seeks To Trademark Name

Ted Klaudt was a Republican member of the South Dakota House of Representatives from 1999 to 2006. He's now more widely known as the husky molester who got convicted of raping his two foster daughters by use of a fake medical exam scam he had going.

Now Klaudt is following up his proud record on conservative family values with some conservative freemarketeering. Recently, Klaudt sent a "Common Law Copyright Notice" to the Associated Press and various state media outlets warning that use of his name without permission is a violation of a common-law copyright of a trade name or trademark and would result in the offender owing him $500,000.

Only problem for Klaudt is that names of individuals cannot be protected under copyright law so his ill-advised legal notice, unlike himself, is somewhat lacking in heft. Perhaps Klaudt should trademark 'Giant Fat Rapey Pig' instead?
