A lot of us have fallen off the Obama bandwagon and are crying 'duped'. I feel personally cheated on the issue of healthcare and more broadly disappointed about our POTUS's reluctance to wind down in Iraq, Afghanistan and quit on torture.
The very credible (Pullitzer Prize winning) Politifact is a good place to go for sober, reasoned assessments of Obama's performance or lack thereof. If anything, it can calm my anger just a tad by reminding me there's a difference between broken promises and promises not yet kept.
why do you hate black people?
ReplyDeleteyeah, i know, it's a letdown, but i just have to keep reminding myself--what would mccain do? i don't buy into the "at least if the rethugs were in power, they could take all the blame and be eliminated as a political force" argument. i couldn't take another 4 years of rethug rule. yes, obi-wan is looking more like a rethug-lite on some issues, but still . . . it's a helluva let better than being fully bushwhacked.
ReplyDeleteI'm persuaded by the thought that if McCain had got in, the whole system would have been f*cked so bad we wouldn't even be arguing about what to do. It would have had to have been fixed. Sure, it would have been horrible. But at least we wouldn't be arguing about what color to paint the boat when it's sunk.
