Illinois Republican Andy Martin's ruthless politico skills would be impressive. If he was running for 6th grade class president. Martin is the unrepentant douche who "gleefully accepts credit" for the 'Obama is a Muslim' smear during the 2008 presidential campaign. Now he's running for Senator in Illinois using the 'my opponent's a big gaywad' tactic. Says Martin's campaign ad:
"I helped expose many of Barack Obama's lies in 2008. Today, I am fighting for the facts about Mark Kirk. Illinois Republican leader Jack Roeser says there is a 'solid rumor that Kirk is a homosexual.' Roeser suggests that Kirk is part of a Republican Party homosexual club. Lake County Illinois Republican leader Ray True says Kirk has surrounded himself with homosexuals."
In what Crooks & Liars' calls a "stunning move", the Illinois Republican Party has denounced Martin's sleazeball approach. Republicans have always had a high tolerance for lies and bullcrap. Has Martin actually pushed it too far even for them? Apparently, the Illinois Reps "no longer recognize Andy Martin as a candidate."
And, as if to underscore Martin's sketchy character, how 'bout this one line summation from KMOX News:
"Martin has run for office before in Illinois, Florida and Connecticut and is currently barred from practicing law in Illinois."
