They get Vitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren't like them...

"On Monday, we noted that Sen. David Vitter (R-LA) has not yet commented on a Louisiana justice of the peace who made national news by refusing to marry an interracial couple. Now, Vitter has actually been asked about the incident and dodged the question."

Gov. Bobby Jindal and Mary Landrieu (D-LA) have both called for KKKenneth Bardwell to be removed. But Vitter seems to be involved in some kind of antebellum last stand against the forces of integration. What gives? It's not unreasonable for an elected representative, even a wingnut, to condemn blatant racism and defiance of the law is it?

Vitter has also proposed the as yet co-sponsorless Senate Resolution 98, that would designate April 15 in years both 2009 and 2010 as "National TEA Party Day". Ah ha...
