Blog power!
There's been a lot of online bitching about Obama of late - insane rants from the right and impatient squealing from the left-ish. So now the White House is saying to the bloggers "take off the pajamas, get dressed and realize that governing a closely divided country is complicated and difficult."
OK Barry, You want to make this personal? We on what the MSM likes to refer to as the left (i.e., rational and moderate by non-American standards) will probably stop whining if and when you start presidentin' like you mean it. Please don't do the old Republican bait and switch move. You know, promise a whole bunch, get elected and forget it all in the hope that the voters are too ADD to care. We heard the 'hope and change' line and, in spite of our instinct to cold-shoulder seductive spiel, said 'yes please'. Now you need to deliver and not get pissy with those who believed in you when we sense you're letting us down.
I might say in exasperation that you've done nothing since getting elected. And be swiftly put in check by liberal friends who point out many improvements you've already made to the government machine. But, in the grand scheme of things, all you've done to date is tweak. We need big change. The big change we bet on when we cast our votes last year.
I for one will take off my Spiderman footsies and quit bitching when you put in your gum shield, take off the robe and come out swinging.
The key to making all the big changes happen is getting congress under control. He needs to take the bull by the horns or all the big changes he wants will come out of there as ineffectual unrecognizable piles of crap. As it is, every big thing that passes is basically rewritten by or for Olympia Snowe. That's not going to get anyone anywhere.
ReplyDeleteI never thought I'd say it, but the only way the system is going to work is if we fill up Senate and Congress with super rich motherfuckers like Rockefeller and Grayson. So far, they're the only ones acting in the interest of the people because they're too rich to be bought off like all the other lame scumbags.
ReplyDeleteI was laughing on the phone with my Mom yesterday because the English political scandal right now is some schmuck in the govt getting a duck pond built and trying to bill it on expenses. How cute... All that lobbying and campaign finance crap is totally illegal in the UK and what our electeds do every day would get your ass put in jail in England. Why can't they do that here? Oh, I forgot... that constitutional dick move that gave corporations human rights under the law. They really broke the system with that.
The whole legal doctrine of "corporate personhood" is the worst thing that has ever happened to this country.
ReplyDeleteI don't totally agree with you, but I'm glad people are saying it and I hope you and they keep saying it loud and from a leftist position!
