From The Dallas Morning News:
"In a first for Texas, a judge ruled Thursday that two men married in another state can divorce here and that the state's ban on gay marriage violates the U.S. Constitution."
Let me just point out to the lunkheads that I'm not gay - even though I'm a liberal - but I am no fan of irrational discrimination either. You see, that's one thing that differentiates us liberal folk from you conservative types: we don't use the law to punish people for being different to ourselves. (Glad we got that out of the way.)
The logical consequence of a Texas court allowing a gay divorce is that Texas must now recognize the constitutional legality of gay marriage itself. Otherwise how could a divorce be legal if the marriage itself did not exist? Much as this may be distasteful to Rick Perry, he's going to have a hard job defending a ban that contravenes the US constitution on the grounds that he finds it personally objectionable.
So could the outlawing of gay marriage be a new cause for the secessionist loons? "Keep Texas Straight. Secede Now!"
