When Republicans speak, that which is spoken will be untrue.
This is not so much a slur as an immutable rule of nature these days. The only area of uncertainty: Are Republicans consciously lying? Or are they just way too stupid to know better? Case in point:
"Showing images of cars stuck in giant snow banks, ominous weather reports and a ruler showing more than a foot of the white fluffy stuff, the Virginia GOP attempts to exploit the storm for political gain. The ad, called "12 inches of Global Warming" is specifically targeting Reps. Rick Boucher (D-VA) and Tom Perriello (D-VA) in advance of the fall midterm elections."
So are the Virginia GOP stupid? Or do they just think screwing over Democrats is more important than averting a possible global catastrophe?
Just for starters, maybe someone should remind them that 'weather' and 'climate' are two different things. If you went through eighth grade, chances are you already know this. Unlike the Virginia GOP.

Mitch McConnell's Self-serving Hypocrisy

Bill Moyers on the Supreme Court corporatist putsch:
"After the Supreme Court handed down its decision two weeks ago, Mitch McConnell of Kentucky, the leader of Senate Republicans, praised it from the senate floor. He dismissed the notion that the decision might allow a flood of foreign money to influence our elections. Now we learn from TalkingPointsMemo.com that Senator McConnell has received substantial funds from a subsidiary of a big foreign defense contractor that's currently being investigated by the Justice Department for bribery. Senator McConnell has been quite good to that subsidiary -- this year alone he's requested seventeen million dollars in earmarks for its Louisville facility. Yes, the sun, and the dollar signs, shine bright in Senator McConnell's old Kentucky home."
Makes you think. Or rather sadly, doesn't.

Sarah Palin Not So Retarded After All?

When liberal Democrats threatened to run ads against blue dogs who were holding out on health care reform, Rahm Emmanuel responded with two words: "Fucking" and "retarded."
Then, naturally, Sarah Palin jumps up full of self-serving fake outrage making ridiculous demands that Emmanuel gets fired. Isn't it amazing how this amoral, ethically and intellectually barren piece of human waste is so easily offended? Talk about big claws, thin skin. And hypocrisy.
According to Levi Johnston, Palin herself flings the word 'retarded' around in private with much gusto. In private. Just like Emmanuel.
Then Limbaugh uses the word more than 40 times on his Wednesday radio show and Palin's relatively OK with that. Radio show. Not private.
Maybe Palin's fake outrage was a shrewd political tactic. Imagine being Palin and Googling the term "Palin retarded". Just last week, Google would probably have exploded under the bandwidth of search returns listing anti-Palin rants. Now, if you Google "Palin retarded" the returns are filled with articles about Rahm Emmanuel instead.
Maybe Palin's not so retarded after all. Just wait til she catches wind of Rahm Emmanuel using the word 'c*nt'... she'll be well on the way to cleaning up the 165,000 "Sarah Palin C*nt" search returns too.

James O'Keefe In With The White Power-ers

The Senatorial phone bugger... sorry, "tamperer", a racist pr*ck as well?
As the wingnutterati fawn over 'conservative activist poster boy' James O'Keefe, I wonder how many would be put off by his being in cahoots with "anti-Semites, professional racists and proponents of Aryanism"?
One People's Project - an activist organization that monitors hate groups - has produced a photo of O'Keefe at a 2006 conference on "Race and Conservatism" that featured leading white supremacists.
According to One People's Project, O'Keefe was manning the literature table at the gathering and "We can say for certain that James O'Keefe was at the 2006 meeting with Jared Taylor (founder of the white nationalist group American Renaissance). He has absolutely no way of denying that."
Can anyone say awkward? I guess for conservatives whose entire movement is based on 'awkward', probably not.
Google: The Collective Id
Was over at the rather cool 'Museum of Unintended Use' and saw another Google prediction game. They suggested trying it myself so, what the hey, I did.
Just start typing the phrase "how can I get my girlfriend to..." and let Google fill in the rest. Then do "how can I get my boyfriend to..." to compare and contrast.
Isn't it weird how the questions seem to correspond? It's almost as if question 1 on one list seems to answer question 1 on the other list and so on...

Random Picture of The Day Too

Is it just me? Or is the whole concept of Lord's Gym and their 'roid ragin' savior just plain mental?
Don't Ask, Don't Tell, Don't Give a F*ck
As a straight guy, a lot of the debate about gays in the military flies over my poorly styled head. But I think 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell' was a well-intentioned kludge on Bubba's part that needs to be dumped in a hurry.
'Don't Ask, Don't Tell' obliges gay soldiers to live second-class careers of subterfuge and routine discrimination while heterosexual soldiers get spousal benefits, married accommodation, all that good stuff. But both parties are equally duty-bound to lay down their lives for their country. How is that fair?
These days, the majority of every polled demo - from Republicans, regular churchgoers through to liberals and progressives - favors openly gay folks serving in the military. So if the Obama admin screws this one up, they really may as well give up.

Quote of The Day
Andrew Young, a former John Edwards aide, was asked about a John Edwards sex tape on 'Good Morning America':
"I'm positive it's John Edwards... You can clearly see his face. I can't speak for the rest of the body parts."
"I'm positive it's John Edwards... You can clearly see his face. I can't speak for the rest of the body parts."
Check-out Mags Hit New Low
If you joked that a publishing house was cashing in on 'Palinmania' by releasing a supermarket mag entitled "Sarah Palin: Faith, Family, Freedom", you'd laugh. Trouble is, Imagine That Publishing ain't kidding.I haven't seen this thing in Walmart yet. But I can only imagine it's there... maybe nestled next to the slow cooker recipe mags and the 'random-celebrity-only-has-weeks-to-live' pot boilers at the check-out? Man, just knowing this thing exists makes me depressed.
Really, am I the only person in America who objects to the media presenting people like Palin as paragons of patriotism, religious devotion and moral rectitude? In old-timey days, they called them cads instead and they were not be trusted or talked about in polite company. But now they're stuck up on pedestals like plaster saints for us mere mortals to worship and aspire to.
Why do we fall for it? Why do we who live regular, humble lives of honest toil tug our forelocks to 'cads' like Palin who live entire lives desperately lying and cheating their way to the top of whatever worldly heap denotes success to them? 'Faith, Family, Freedom'? Don't make me laugh.
According to The Washington Post:
"[The magazine] contains Palin's homage to the Rev. Billy Graham, Abraham Lincoln and Ronald Reagan. It lays out "Where Sarah Palin stands on the big issues" and offers a selection of "The Wit & Wisdom of Sarah."
I'll leave you to ponder the "The Wit & Wisdom of Sarah"... How big a font did they have to use to fill up a page with that?

Ask An Idiot

"Rep. Jeb Hensarling (R-TX) was on Chris Matthews show a few moments ago and rolled out his idea for the Republican platform to get the federal budget into line: cut benefits for everybody now under 55 and privatize the program like President Bush tried to do in 2005."
WTF??? Chris Matthews too? "Hey, we're talking about economics... shall we get that lying dumbf*ck from Texas who probably couldn't count to eleven without taking his shoes off? He'll say something entertaining people'll talk about..."
F*ck Jeb Hensarling. And f*ck Chris Matthews if he really thinks his Nielsen rating is more important than American democracy prospering with the participation of an informed public.
Our media has spent so long asking idiots what they think, the idiots are now telling us what to do.
Kristolnacht

Bill Kristol: the mouthpiece of America's fascist aristocracy.
"You've given yourselves very little room to work in a bipartisan fashion, because what you've been telling your constituents is. 'This guy's doin' all kinds of crazy stuff that's going to destroy America!'"
Barack Obama
"I agree with the president. I think he's been doing all kinds of crazy stuff that risks destroying America. But the good news is, a lot of it's been stopped."
Bill Kristol
So the overprivileged conserva-weasel responds to Obama's criticism of the GOP in his own imitable style.
Really, it's not just a cute pun to say 'Kristolnacht'. Kristol is deliberately shifting blame to Obama rather than the GOP whose really doing the damage. This is very much the same MO as Kristallnacht when the Nazis burned down the Reichstag and blamed 'Jews and communists' for the useful national emergency.
Kristol's revolting rhetoric is just one more reminder how the GOP view our current dire straits as a great opportunity to advance their own return to power. America can go broke, jobless and without healthcare just so long as these Machiavellian pr*cks can get their foot back in the door.
